Baklava is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup. It is characteristic of the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire, and is also found in Central and Southwest Asia

 

 

 

REVANİ (Semolina Cake Steeped In Syrup):

A simple but delicious dessert made with a single layer of soft, yellow, semolina sponge cake steeped in lots of light syrup. Revani’ (reh-vah-NEE’) is a classic dessert that has been present in Turkish cuisine since the Ottoman period.

 

 

 

 

ŞEKERPARE (Turkish Semolina Cookies): sekerpare

This traditional Turkish dessert is called ‘şekerpare’ (shek-EYR’ par-EH’), which means “a piece of sweetness. Try some and you’ll see why it’s exactly that. These sweet, sticky and tender cookies are made from semolina, flour and powdered sugar that are baked golden brown and left to steep in sweet, lemony syrup.

 

 

KURABIYE (Classic Turkish ‘Flour’ Cookies):

If you’re a fan of sweet, tender sugar cookies, you’ll be sure to adore them made the Turkish way. In Turkish, these cookies are called ‘un kurabiyesi’ (OON’ koor-AH’-bee-YAY’-see), which actually means ‘flour cookies,’ but it’s the large amounts of powdered sugar in the recipe that make them so delicious.

They are loved by children and adults alike and are very popular at afternoon teatime with Turkish tea and coffee.

The name of this dessert may sound weird; but it is the most loved desserts of Turkish Cuisine, very light and delicious. It is usually served with kaymak, a kind of clotted cream.

 

 

 

 

SÜTLÜ İRMİK TATLISI (Semolina Pudding):

The Turkish Semolina Pudding uses semolina, often alongside walnuts, cinnamon and/or rose water. It is one of the lightest desserts, therefore a lot of people’s favorite. The milk calms down the taste of sugar a bit and it makes a wonderful light dessert.

 

 

 

MUHALLEBILI KADAYIF (Turkish Pudding w/Kadaifi):

Muhallebi is a traditional Turkish milk pudding. It is characterized by the fact that rice flour is used to thicken it. It is garnished with rose water and nuts. It is covered with kadaifi (shredded fillo dough), to get the perfect taste.
